Eligibility Criteria For Meyerhoff Scholarship
Meyerhoff Scholars Program is nomination-based which means that applicants are expected to meet certain criteria to qualify for the scholarship. Below is an outline of major criteria that candidates must meet before applying to the Meyerhoff Scholars Program.
1) Students must have a minimum of B average in high school science or maths course
2) Students need to have completed a year or more of calculus
3) Students who have experience in research or have taken advanced placement courses in maths and science have a higher chance of success.
4) Students must have 600 and above in the SAT Maths component. A composite score of 24 on the ACT
5) Students must have a cumulative High School GPA of 3.0 and above.
6) Students who have demonstrated community service have more advantages.
7) Students must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States.
8) Students applying for Meyerhoff Merit Award must major in one of these STEM programs: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, Biological Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Statistics
Benefits Included In The Meyerhoff Scholar Program
The program is open to all high school seniors. Priority is given to students who have ambitions to attain doctoral studies in STEM programs. The aim is to give minorities in science-related fields access to quality education. Nomination is done by school administrates, teachers, and recognized personnel in their schools.
Nominated students receive four-year scholarships the following:
In-State candidates receive $5000 -$15000 yearly and Out-of-state students receive $10000 – $22000 yearly. The Funds cover tuition, mandatory fees, stipends, and other expenses that come with the student’s academic year.
How To Apply For The Meyerhoff Scholars Program
Students nominated for the program come from Science, engineering, mathematics, and computer science. Here is a step-by-step overview of how the application works.
Before applying for the Meyerhoff Scholars Program, students are expected to complete and submit the UMBC CommonApp. Afterward, applicants get all the credentials they need to access the Meyerhoff application portal.
Step 1) Meyerhoff sends Nomination letters and eligibility criteria to personnel’s secondary schools. The notification also includes instructions on how to access online nomination forms.
Step 2) Nominees receive email or letters in their mailing address notifying them of their nomination for the Meyerhoff Scholars Program
Step 3) Applicants are expected to apply for UMBC regular admissions.
Step 4) Applicants receive emails or letters inviting them to participate in one of Meyerhoff selection weekends.
Step 5) Applicants receive emails or notifications informing them of the decisions regarding their selection.
Step 6) Selected students are free to accept or reject the offer within a stipulated period

List all courses that you will take during your final year of high school. If no maths courses will be taken, please indicate the most advanced maths course you have completed.

Meyerhoff scholarship sets two deadlines for applicants to turn in their applications. December 1 is the priority deadline and January 15 is the final application deadline.
